I had to quit crocheting, knitting, sewing etc., thumb joints totally bone on bone, as per Orthopedic physician. I could not hold a jar and open a lid. I tried all the creams, pills, gels, goops, globs etc. I finally did a search on home remedies for arthritis that work. GIN SOAKED RAISINS WORK!!!!! At the liquor store I asked for the best Gin, & was asked what I was using it for. I stammered until she asked "for soaking raisins"? I said yes, and told me not to bother with anything BUT the cheapest gin ($7.00 a fifth). She been using it for years and had had no problems since the early '90's. I gave it a try. I just finished the crochet project I started in 2006 & am on project #2. I have canned 202 jars of soups, fruit, jelly, & vegetables. Thumbs are no problem. I thank God every day for this wonderful information. I cover the bottom of a casserole dish (large) with golden raisins (made from white grapes), use just enough gin to cover, I put a shrink wrap covering on dish and place in cupboard. Seven to ten days usually is about right. Then place in sealed jar on your counter and nine (9) per day seems to be the appropriate amount. I saw extreme improvement within 5 days. Also Dr. Oz highly recommends this for arthritis. It has also taken the pain from my left knee which has had 2 surgeries. Now, no problem. Hope this is helpful to all who read this. God Bless you all.

This has been passed down in our family, it absolutely works.
My 70 year old mother for the first time in years can crochet without any pain, her hands are deformed because of the arthritis, this has given her life back

Pinky,

You need to consult with your doctor on that issue. I imagine that you could take small doses of the remedy and be fine, but please check first though.

I'm diabetic and also OA (osteoarthritis), so what will be if I try taking raisin - gin, because both the sweet of the raisins and the alcohol of the gin is a taboo for diabetics. Or will it be neutral, I mean sugar free, after soaking the raisins in gin for a week.

Hi, I have some dark raisins in fridge w/Seagrams soaking for now, I think I'll try organic golden and figure out getting some juniper berries to put in with the mixture as well... I'll see how it goes.

I'm going to try this. my mom and two sisters use this and swear by it. I have had two double knee replacements and they have not worked arthritis and working ate my knees up. I am in constant pain and stiffness.I just pray this works for me. My sister said someone told her to put these in a glass bowl and leave out and cover with cheese cloth. I don't know where she got this but I am going to put them in the fridge and cover with cheesecloth in a half gallon jar.

Thanks so much for the info, and all the commentary from admin and other pain sufferers. I am a recovering alcoholic, and would definitely prefer NOT to be in a liquor store, or have alcohol in my home. I'll try an apple cider vinegar recipe (since i have that at home already) and let you know how it goes.

I have fibromyalgia, and the fibro-bear (as I call it- it hangs on my back, chews at my neck and shoulders, and claws at my legs) has been pretty unrelenting as of late. I end up on muscle relaxers, & more recently, prednisone (very high inflammation levels). I wonder if anyone has checked? Does this recipe reduce inflammation body wide? Would be nice to know...

I would imagine the juniper berry oil might work better, and i may try it eventually, but many of these oils are quite strong, possibly concentrated, and might be awfully strong, esp for someone w/ a sensitive stomach like myself.
